Helping Hawaii’s Youth in Foster Care Become Successful Adults

Preparing for Independence
To insure that youth leaving the foster care system receive adequate preparation and support as they move toward independent living. We support their economic success through education and employment programs and provide life skills training to help them navigate the adult world. We also promote stable and permanent connections to caring adults.

Our Story About Transition – Creating a Brighter Future
An 18 year old foster youth with academic and behavioral challenges spent most of her senior year in a detention home for risky behavior. Even her guardian had given up on her. Our eXcel program worker helped her apply for college and encouraged her not to give up on her classes and rebuild her relationship with her guardian. She now holds an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology and is gainfully employed, enjoying her career and independence.
