HCAN Awards 2024’s Champions for Children
Hoʻomaikaʻi ʻana to the 2024 Champions for Children award winners! We are very grateful for these community members and the work they do for Hawaiʻi’s keiki and their families. We are excited and canʻt wait to celebrate with you at our Champions for Children Gala on September 7th at The Pacific Club!
The Hawaii Children’s Action Network has an annual award ceremony for Champions for Children. This event celebrates individuals that go above and beyond to support Hawaiʻi’s children. The evening includes live music, a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, and a special awards presentation. There are also silent and live auctions.
The three awards are in the categories for Unsung Hero, Youth Advocate of the Year, and Innovator. Family Programs Hawaii’s Keith Kuboyama, President and CEO, will be awarded the Unsung Hero award on September 7, 2024 at the Pacific Club in Honolulu, Hawaii at 5:30-8:30pm.
Additional awards will go to Genshu Prince for the Youth Advocate of the Year and Gizelle Rodrigues for Innovator.
Our Keiki Deserve to be Healthy, Safe, and Thriving

Hawai’i Children’s Action Network (HCAN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit – and the only one in the state dedicated to advocating for keiki. We analyze data on children’s well-being, collaborate to solve critical policy challenges, and train parents and community members to be leaders and advocates.
HCAN’s approach is unique and effective. We have pushed the state to invest millions in children, trained hundreds of community advocates, and reached hundreds of thousands of families through our public education campaigns.
HCAN’s work is particularly urgent now. Our children’s well-being ranks 44th in children’s economic well-being. Over half o fkeiki ages 3 and 4 are not in school. 14% of children in Hawai’i live below the poverty line.
HCAN’s annual Champions for Children fundraiser supports their work to ensure that all children are healthy, safe and ready to learn. Each year, this evvent also honors local community leaders who made a significant difference in thel ives of children and families.
