THE HEART OF THE HOLDAY PARTY
A day to simply be a child.
A freshly painted face. Another turn at a favorite game. A book carefully chosen to bring home. Every December, these small moments fill Family Programs Hawaii’s Holiday Party, annual celebration for children in foster care and the caregivers raising them.
Around them are families sharing a meal, children finding new things to try, and a community coming together to make the day special. For caregivers, it is a chance to share in their children’s excitement and feel the warmth of a community that welcomes their family.
For children whose lives may hold change and uncertainty, there is something precious about a day spent laughing, playing, and looking forward to what comes next.
That is what we hope each child takes home, alongside their gifts, books, and full tummies: a happy memory, the feeling of being celebrated, and the knowledge that they belong.
