Family Programs Hawai‘i
Children are Hawai‘i’s most valuable resource. They are our future. Family Programs Hawai‘i (FPH) is a unique non-profit agency remaining true to its origins of providing quality care to the children of Hawai‘i. FPH’s goal is that every child in Hawai‘i has the opportunity and resources to reach his or her full potential — especially children who are in or may become involved in — foster care.
FPH is a growing vibrant social service agency providing statewide services to almost 4,000 children and families involved in the child welfare system. We provide services to prevent children from entering foster care, support children and families already involved in the foster care system, and assist youth transitioning out of foster care. FPH seeks to create step-by-step comprehensive programs to serve the needs of these children and strengthen families to meet their needs.
Family Program Hawai‘i (formerly Foster Family Programs of Hawai‘i) is a 501 (c)(3) social service agency dedicated to strengthening children and families involved in the child welfare system through high quality prevention and support services. Family Programs Hawai‘i (FPH) provides services to prevent children from entering foster care; supports children and families already involved in the foster care system; and assists youth transitioning out of foster care. FPH currently has approximately 60 employees in its two offices, located in Honolulu and Hilo, and a receiving home in Ma‘ili.
FPH has provided quality social services in Hawai‘i since 2004. Since then, the agency has grown, adding several large state contracts as well as numerous smaller grant funded programs to the original Enhancements program for foster youth and Long Term Foster Care services. Improving the lives of children and families involved in the Child Welfare System is central to FPH. In September, 2008, the agency changed its name to Family Programs Hawai‘i to reflect its broader service to all children from the child welfare system including supporting foster parents who care for them.
